Mateus Mazzaferro

Mateus Mazzaferro is a doctoral student in the 2023 cohort of the Developmental and Psychological Sciences program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education. Prior to his time at Stanford, Mateus worked as a Research Assistant at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and at the NYU School of Global Public Health. He received his B.S. in Psychology from Humboldt University in Berlin and his M.A. in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Mateus' research interests center around understanding how disruptions in early care and education affect the cognitive and emotional development of young children in underserved communities. Currently, he is running a study in the Brazilian Sertão as a member of the Global Executive Function Initiative, investigating trajectories of executive function among rural low-income children exposed to extreme heat.
