DOCTORAL STUDENT

Mateus Mazzaferro

Mateus Mazzaferro is a doctoral student in the 2023 cohort of the Developmental and Psychological Sciences program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education. Prior to his time at Stanford, Mateus worked as a Research Assistant at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and at the NYU School of Global Public Health. He received his B.S. in Psychology from Humboldt University in Berlin and his M.A. in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Mateus' research interests center around understanding the neuropsychological development of young children in underserved communities. In the SPARK Lab, Mateus aims to contribute to studies that shed light on the mechanisms through which hardship and adversity impact caregiving and family systems and, in turn, influence key early psychological outcomes such as executive function and reward sensitivity.
