Annie Berens is a pediatrician completing subspecialty fellowship training in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP). Her research interests center on the neurobiological and clinical effects of early life stress and resilience factors, and on community-embedded, participatory approaches to addressing child behavioral health impacts of social-structural stressors. She is a former Marshall Scholar and Julius B. Richmond Fellow at the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University. While at Harvard, she worked on studies investigating psychosocial risk and resilience factors influencing child neurodevelopment among young children in Romania and Bangladesh under the mentorship of Dr. Charles A. Nelson. Current projects focus on the development and testing of community-embedded DBP care models, and on measuring and addressing mental health impacts of immigration-related stress and trauma through strengths-based approaches.
